Butterflies

I Love to frame butterflies! I used to see framed species for sale but could never afford the ridiculus amounts people charged for them! So, a little internet research and I made my own for much less :)

The butterflies arrive dry and folded closed. They need to be humidiefied in a tupperware container for a few days before they can be dried out in place. When they are pliable(but still VERY delicate!)I use pieces of florist foam wrapped in wax paper to pin them down with strips of cardboard.

This is the bottom. When the wings are folded you would never tell they were so colorful on the other side!! My hands arent that wrinkly in real life :D

Cakes

Now I work in the Bakery dept of the store decorating cakes full time. I've learned alot over the past years, and am having a great time making cakes! I have a cool boss who lets me free-hand custom orders and holiday themes. Heres the few I have pics of!

Ice Table

Yeah I know, Im a big lame-o. But at least I liked my job (well, a little anyways) I worked part time at a fruit/salad bar, the whole things covered in ice. On the weekends I did fun things with my food displays. Heres a few I have pics of!

The one in the third pic was the queen LOL The aliens were made from celery roots, turnips, savoy and green cabbage, kolrabis, artichokes, grapes, radishes, peas, beans, and various peppers. This was one of my favorites Ive done so far...I was pissing myself all morning!!
